Biography
How I got here
Carlton Boleyjack is a servant leader at heart and a proud Nashville native. He attended West Meade Elementary School, Meigs Magnet Middle School, and graduated from Hume-Fogg Academic High School. "I was lucky in my education experience – I went to great schools that showed me what a great education can do," he reflects. Growing up in the 37208 area, near Historic Jefferson Street, Fisk University, and Tennessee State University, Carlton developed a deep connection to his community and its rich history. He earned a degree in chemistry with a concentration in education from Tennessee State University and completed a master's degree in business management from Trevecca University in 2023. Additionally, he completed Leadership Essentials at Belmont University.
In 2016, Carlton founded Excellence in Motion Inc., an organization dedicated to helping youth of all ages achieve personal and professional excellence through arts and science education. Excellence in Motion offers summer STEM career exploration and job training, paid learning opportunities for high schoolers and recent graduates, and community education programming. These initiatives have featured collaborations with Fortune 50 companies and government agencies such as NASA and NIST.
Carlton's professional background spans various fields, including classroom teaching, math coaching, after-school program direction, daycare ownership, and civil service. He has also worked as a manager and consultant in areas such as art, tailoring/costume, retail, restaurants, promotions, music production, event planning, team building, web design, print, and publishing.
In his role as an Assistant Treatment Plant Manager for the City of Nashville, Carlton helped manage the city's water and sewage systems, collaborating with community stakeholders to ensure public health and safety. This role exposed him to managing and maintaining multi-million-dollar facilities, budgets, and construction projects. He holds grade 4 licenses in Tennessee for both water and wastewater treatment.
In October 2024, Carlton joined Labtronx, an onsite full-service company specializing in the calibration and maintenance of quality control equipment. He continues to bring his extensive experience and dedication to every role he undertakes.

Now
We as a community are still digesting the confirmation of many years of over policing and underfunding. 37208 and 37209 have a rich history that goes beyond incarceration and poverty. It is a place of renaissance and forward thinking. It is also an hour from the birth place of the KKK (a hate group) in a city that was essential to winning the civil war of the United States.
